The Swedish Bar Association's Consumer Disputes Board hears disputes over fees and other financial claims that a consumer makes against a lawyer or law firm in connection with a legal service. In this context, a consumer is a natural person who acts for purposes that fall outside of their business or professional activities. A legal service is a service performed by a lawyer or associate lawyer at a law firm within the framework of their legal practice.
In order for the board to be able to examine the dispute, you must first have complained in writing to your lawyer. The dispute must have been resolved in agreement with the lawyer before you can submit your claim. The claim must not be less than SEK 1,000 and must not exceed SEK 200,000.
